【摘要】:Macroetchtesting,asdescribedherein,isamethodforexaminingandratingtransversesectionsofbarsandbilletstodescribecertainconditionsofmacrosegregationwhichareoftencharacteristicofconsumableelectroderemeltedmaterials.ThispracticeisnotintendedtodefinemajordefectssuchasthosedescribedbyMethodE381.1.1Thispracticecoverstestingandinspectionandisapplicabletobars,billets,andbloomsofcarbon,alloy,andstainlesssteelwhichhavebeenconsumableelectroderemelted.1.2Forthepurposeofthispractice,theconsumableelectroderemeltingprocessisdefinedasasteelrefiningmethodwhereinsingleormultipleelectrodesareremeltedintoacrucibleproducinganingotwhichissuperiortotheoriginalelectrodebyvirtueofimprovedcleanlinessorlowergascontentorreducedchemicalornonmetallicsegregation.Seeandfordescriptionsofapplicableremeltingprocesses.1.3Thispracticeandtheaccompanyingcomparisonmacrographsaregenerallyapplicabletosteelbarandbilletsizesupto225in.2[1450cm2]intransversecrosssection.1.4ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
